Morgan calls for ‘higgler’ policy
Social commentator Dr Henle Morgan is calling for the government to put in place a policy that will provide for the needs of persons who farm and market agricultural produce.
His call comes against the background of the death of 14 persons while they were being transported by truck to the Coronation Market in Kingston from Portland on Friday night.
Dr Morgan says more needs to be done by the government to ensure that the needs of farmers and their families are taken care of and not just when there is a major catastrophe.
Dr Morgan is also suggesting the creation of a central point for the marketing of agricultural produce similar to the Agricultural Marketing Corporation that was in place years ago.
According to Dr Morgan the corporation provided a much more efficient way of marketing produce.
