Children’s Advocate, Mary Clarke is renewing calls for more efforts to rid the streets of children during the Christmas season.
Mrs Clarke is insisting that they should not be allowed on the streets to fend for themselves.
She is also reminding parents that it is illegal for children to be selling or begging on the roads.
The children’s advocate also wants police personnel to look out for street children and to seek to protect them from predators.
She says her office is currently in discussions with the Community, Safety and Security arm of the police force to develop a programme aimed at protecting street children.
