CCTV comes to May Pen
The Clarendon Chamber of Commerce says all is in place for tomorrow’s commissioning of closed circuit cameras in May Pen.
The closed circuit cameras will be placed on some streets in the town and will have a direct link to the police station.
President of the Chamber of Commerce, Aldo Brown says the cameras are already in place and that the final touches to ensure smooth functioning will be carried out today.
Mr Brown says the business community is hoping that the cameras will be a deterrent for criminal activities in the busy town.
The system is the first network to be established outside of the corporate area.
Similar facilities are currently being contemplated for Mandeville and Montego Bay.
The May Pen network, established by the National Works Agency, is being viewed as a critical crime-fighting tool in the town, which has seen an increase in serious crimes including murders.
