Three men are now behind bars in Portland after being arrested and charged with illegal possession, trafficking, and dealing in ganja yesterday.

The men have been identified as 34-year-old Keith Monteque of Windsor Castle district in Portland, 33-year-old Wayne Brown of School Field District in Saint Elizabeth, and 32-year-old Sariko Russell of Nelson Street, Buff Bay in the parish.

They were arrested by a team from the Island Special Constabulary force (ISCF) in Port Antonio.

According to Inspector Lansdale Pinnock of the ISCF, a team on patrol spotted a white Toyota Corolla motorcar with three men aboard, along the Spring Garden main road about 11:30 a.m. yesterday.

Inspector Pinnock says the men were seen acting suspiciously and the car was intercepted.

He says ganja weighing approximately five pounds was found on the front passenger seat, and also on the floor of the vehicle.

The three were arrested and charged with the drug find.

Meantime Monteque, who was driving the vehicle at the time of arrest, had two other charges laid against him after it was discovered that he was operating the car without a driver’s license or insurance coverage.

The three are booked to appear in the Buff Bay Resident Magistrate’s court on Friday to answer to the charges.
