The driver of the market truck, which crashed in Portland killing 14 persons, today had his bail reduced when he appeared in the Buff Bay Resident Magistrates court.

Christopher Clarke, 31 had his $1million dollar $300,000 after his attorney told the court that he was unable to take up the bond.

The magistrate also reduced from three to one the number of days Clarke is required to report to the Port Antonio police.

Clarke was charged last week with 14 counts of manslaughter, failing to report an accident and reckless driving.

He’s to return to court on February 24.

Clarke was reportedly transporting market vendors in a truck from Portland to the Coronation market in Kingston on December 19 when the accident occurred.

The market truck reportedly plunged over a precipice at Dam Bridge in the Rio Grande Valley killing 14 people including a 10-year-old boy.
