National prayer breakfast today
The country’s leaders are to meet in Kingston today for the 29th staging of the National leadership Prayer Breakfast.
The event, which is scheduled to begin at 7: 30 a.m., is being held at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel under the theme ‘No transformation without reconciliation’.
Prime minister Bruce Golding is scheduled to read the first lesson while opposition leader Portia Simpson Miller will read the second lesson.
Former moderator of the United Church in Jamaica and the Cayman Islands Reverend Roderick Hewitt is expected to deliver the main address.
Outgoing Governor General Sir Kenneth Hall is also down to bring greetings.
Part proceeds from this year’s staging will be used for the benefit of children traumatized by violence and will be channelled through the Peace Management Initiative.
