Police seize boat

The Manchioneal police are still carrying out investigation on a 28-foot fibreglass fishing boat, which they believe is being used in the guns for drugs trade between Haiti and Jamaica.



The police are also seeking the whereabouts of the owner of the boat, which they seized a little over a week ago.



Police sources say intelligence gathered so far has suggested that the boat made frequent trips to Haiti in 2008.



According to the police, they also received information that the boat was used by local fishermen to transport ganja to that country, in exchange for illegal firearms.



They have dismissed claims that the boat was making the frequent trips to that island for fishing purposes.
