Judge order senior cop to attend court
A Supreme Court Judge today made an order for a senior cop to attend the Gun Court on Tuesday in relation to allegations that police tapes can help the defence in the case of the man who was allegedly rescued by Minister without Portfolio James Robertson.
Rameish Simpson, of Yallahs, St. Thomas is the man who was allegedly rescued.
He appeared in the Gun Court.
He is facing charges of shooting with intent and illegal possession of a firearm.
When Simpson appeared in court his lawyer Charles Ganga Singh made a bail application.
The judge then put off the case for Tuesday.
It is being alleged that Simpson fired at the police on January 3 this year.
However, there are reports that Simpson was also shot and injured during the incident and Robertson took him from St Thomas to the Kingston Public Hospital.
Robertson was subsequently served with summonses for obstructing the police and using abusive and calumnious language.
Robertson who is Member of Parliament for west St Thomas is to attend court on February 11.
