Kingfish continues fight against crime

National Security minister Colonel Trevor Macmillan says the success of Operation Kingfish in the fight against illegal guns and drug has continued this year.



Speaking in the State of the Nation Address in the Senate earlier today, Senator Macmillan said since the start of the year, Operation Kingfish has been receiving many calls through its 811-telephone line.



Senator Macmillan said the calls this year led to 56 operations, which have resulted in the seizure of firearms, ammunition, drugs and motor vehicles.



Senator Macmillan said his ministry would be improving the capacity of the Major Investigation Task Force to probe major crimes.
