NWC restrictions

The National Water Commission (NWC) will be implementing water restrictions in several sections of the Corporate Area starting today.

The NWC said the restrictions are in response to the current drought conditions affecting the island.

The Commission said water storage levels at the Hermitage dam have decreased to 76 percent of its capacity.

NWC customers are being urged to step up their conservation practices, as nightly restrictions will begin today.

Residents served by the Constant Spring and Havendale systems in St. Andrew will have no water between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m.

Some of the areas to be affected are Manor Park, Meadowbrook, Half Way Tree Road, Cherry Gardens, Russell Heights, Barbican, Hughenden, Molynes Road, Arcadia, Jacks Hill, Red Hills Road and Stony Hill.

The NWC said some 21 other communities in the corporate area are also to be affected by the water management measures.
