President of the Guild, Roger Bent said that the students are concerned that the global economic situation may affect them seriously.

He said within the next few months the issue of school fees for the 2009/2010 academic school year would be prominent in the minds of students.

The UWI student guild president added that with remittances dwindling and reports surfacing that the Student Loan Bureau is facing trouble, many may find it difficult to continue their studies.

The Guild has called a press briefing for 10 a.m. this morning to discuss the matter.
