Berger signs new work hours MOU
Effective today a four day work week comprising eight hour work days will be implemented for employees at Berger Paints Jamaica Limited.
The new work hours were agreed to in a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by the National Workers Union (NWU) and the Union of Clerical and Administrative Employees (UCASE).
The unions represent monthly paid and hourly paid workers at Berger.
The agreement however does not cover sales representatives and support staff, employees at the depots and managers.
As part of the agreement, employees at the depots will be offered a 20 percent reduction in salaries.
At the same time managers will see a similar reduction in basic pay over the four-day work week.
The arrangement will not affect leave entitlement, any other terms and conditions of employment and any agreement contained in the collective bargaining agreements.
