NWA completes bridge in St. James
The National Works Agency (NWA) says it has completed the construction of one of three bridges being built in western Jamaica under its bridge building programme.
The NWA says the Seven Rivers Bridge in St. James was recently completed at a cost of $90 million.
The new bridge, which accommodates two lanes of traffic is equipped with sidewalks and was constructed parallel to the temporary single lane Bailey Bridge.
The NWA say the construction of the bridge should make travelling between Montpelier and Cambridge safer for the public, as the roadway has also been realigned.
The works agency says both the Queen River Bridge, which is being replaced in Green Island, and the Martha Brae River in Trelawny should be completed by the middle of the year.
11 bridges are being replaced islandwide by the NWA under the R.A. Murray programme, which is valued at US$45 million.
