The information minister, Olivia Grange is to hold talks today with members of the music fraternity to deal with mounting concerns over lewd lyrics.

The meeting is scheduled for Jamaica House with artistes, producers, managers and other key players in the music industry.

They will be seeking to reach an agreement on how to address the issues with lewd content.

On Sunday, Prime Minister Bruce Golding instructed the Information Minister to meet with the industry players to discuss the concerns about the portrayal of negative lyrics and images through Jamaica’s music.

Mr. Golding was responding to dub poet, Mutabaruka.

In an address to mark Reggae Month, Mutabaruka called for the Government to take immediate action to address the issue.

He said the explicit content was eroding the values of the society and negatively impacting the behaviour of young people.

The broadcasting commission has since banned all songs with violent and sexually explicit lyrics.
