Juan Carlos to maintain relationship with Jamaica
King Juan has promised to maintain the relationship between Spain and Jamaica.
He has also welcomed the announcement that Jamaica will be opening an embassy in Spain to deepen the bond with that country
Speaking in Parliament this afternoon the Spanish King said Jamaica can depend on Spain for continued support in several areas.
He said the Spanish investments in Jamaica’s tourism sector indicate the level of confidence in the island.
The King of Spain also lauded the Government for its decision to pursue the teaching of Spanish as the first foreign language in the school system.
This evening, the Governor-General will host a State Dinner for the royal couple at King\'s House.
Tomorrow Queen Sophia will visit the Holy Trinity Cathedral.
King Juan Carlos is expected to hold private talks with Opposition Leader Portia Simpson Miller.
The Spanish king and queen will then visit the Spanish Town Historical Square and the Spanish Town Hospital.
They will then leave Kingston for Montego Bay for an official ceremony at the Sangster International Airport from which they are expected to depart later in the day for Florida in the United States.
