A copy of the report on the Regional Health Authorities obtained by Gleaner Power 106 News, revealed that the review team recommended that user fees be abolished only at community health centers, but retained at hospitals.
Dr. Winston Davidson, who led the review task force, has also said he is not hopeful that the Government can sustain its user fee abolition policy.
However, the health minister has sought to defend the Government’s action claiming that since the policy’s introduction last April, Jamaicans have saved over $1,000,000,000.
