WICB saddened over attack on Sri Lankan Cricketers

The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) is saddened by Tuesday’s attacks in Pakistan that left several members of the Sri Lanka cricket team injured and security officers dead.



Speaking on This morning, WICB president Julian Hunte said it was a sad moment for world cricket and he expressed condolences to the families of those who died.



“This is a sad day for international cricket and a sad day for Pakistan cricket,” Hunte said in a WICB press release.



Masked terrorists attacked the team bus carrying Sri Lanka\'s cricketers to the Gaddafi Stadium for the second Test in Lahore.



Six security men and two civilians were killed and five Sri Lankan cricketers, including captain Mahela Jayawardene, Kumar Sangakkara, his deputy, suffered minor injuries.



Tharanga Paravitarana, Ajantha Mendis, and Thilan Samaraweera were also injured in the attack.
