Police face tough times in tackling crime
The St. Andrew South police continue to face tough times in tackling gang-related violence, which has been plaguing several communities in the division.
The conflicts include a dispute over an illegal gun in communities off lower Maxfield Avenue in Kingston 13, which led to the death of one more person yesterday.
He is Christopher Nelson, 29, of a Wellington Road address.
The police said around 11.30 a.m. yesterday, Nelson was standing at a shop, meters from his house when a gunman approached and shot him.
He was taken to hospital where he was admitted in serious condition.
He succumbed to his wounds around 3.20 p.m. yesterday.
That same hours after 25 year old Kevin Dawkins of Australia Road, Kingston 11, died in hospital from gunshot wounds he received on Sunday.
It is reported that around 8.15 Sunday evening, Dawkins was standing on Australia Road when he was approached by armed men who opened fire hitting him.
The police were summoned and he was taken to hospital, where he died while being treated.
