Jamaican woman sentenced

A Jamaican woman in Britain has been sentenced to seven-and-a-half years in jail for the death of her one-year-old daughter.



The toddler died from smoke inhalation after an electrical fire broke out at her house in the English Midlands in July last year.



The child was reportedly home alone.



Her mother, 37 year old Michelle Brown, was found guilty of causing or allowing her death and perverting the course of justice.



Ms Brown has five children.



Three are living in England and two in Jamaica.
