JLP turns up pressure on PNP

The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) is turning up the pressure on the People’s National Party, because of its utterances on the economy and other matters.

The JLP has called a press conference for today at its Belmont Road Headquarters to address the issues.

JLP communications advisor Delano Seiveright said the party is particularly concerned about comments made by the opposition spokesman on industry, Mark Golding.

Mr Golding has been reported as saying he would not be surprised if the Administration returns to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The JLP believes these utterances can create unwanted reactions in the country.

At today’s press briefing, agriculture minister, Dr Christopher Tufton is also expected to provide an update on the controversial imported organic fertiliser.

The fertiliser, which is said to contain human excreta, has become a campaign issue for the PNP.

Mr. Seiveright said with the West Portland nomination activities out of the way, the JLP would announce plans for the March 23 by-election.
