The Cabinet is to have further discussions on issues relating to an increase in the country’s minimum wage.
The figure which stands at $3,700 per week was expected to have been increased in January.
However, Labour Minister Pearnel Charles postponed the announcement on fears that some workers could lose their jobs if employers were unable to afford the increase.
Mr. Charles has since had several meetings with employers and unions representing Jamaican workers.
He says he’s to take to Cabinet the results of those discussions before a final decision is made.
