Twenty-two-year-old police constable Rushan Hamilton is to go on trial for the murder of a 14-year-old girl he is alleged to have carnally abused.

The girl went missing a few weeks after she reported the matter to the police.

The Crown is alleging that the girl was sexually molested on October 4 last year at the barracks at the Elleston Road police station in Kingston.

A report was made to the police on October 10 and Hamilton was later arrested and charged with carnal abuse and indecent assault.

A few weeks after the report was made, the girl was at her gate at Harbour View, St Andrew when she was abducted.

Last month Hamilton was arrested and charged with the girl\'s murder.

Prosecutor Dahlia Findlay told the court today that the Crown was going to pursue the murder charge first.

Acting Supreme Court Judge Frank Williams remanded Hamilton until April 17.
