The Education Ministry is to establish five new regions, which will bring the total number of regions to eleven as part of the education modernisation process.
Executive Director of the Education Transformation Team, Frank Weeple said the aim is to increase the level of autonomy at the regional level.
Mr. Weeple said the changes will seek to have the regions aligned with parishes, and would allow the regions to work more closely with various social service, health and educational agencies.
The new regional agencies, which are to be in place next year, are also to focus on the improvement of schools across the country.
The move forms part of the government\'s plan to decentralise the operational functions of the Education Ministry.
