JLP councilor to apologise
Councillor for the Rae town Division, Rosalie Hamilton said she would be apologising to People’s National Party councillor, Angella Brown-Burke for comments she has made against her.
During a meeting of the Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation (KSAC) yesterday, Ms. Hamilton reportedly made comments linking Mrs. Brown Burke to crime in the Corporate Area.
Mayor of Kingston, Desmond McKenzie yesterday wrote a letter of apology to Mrs. Brown Burke in which he distanced the KSAC from the councillor’s remarks.
Last night, Ms. Hamilton said she would also be issuing an apology to Mrs. Brown Burke in keeping with a request from the mayor.
The KSAC’s minority caucus of PNP councillors is calling for the JLP caucus to sanction Ms. Hamilton for the statements.
The PNP councillors said Ms. Hamilton’s colleagues should be unequivocal in their condemnation of what they described as her reprehensible behaviour.
The mayor has also written to the police commissioner and national security minister, requesting a meeting to discuss issues arising from today’s discussion on crime and violence.
