His Excellency the Governor General, Sir Clifford Campbell, declared the session open at Gordon House, Kingston, invoking divine blessings on the deliberations. Amid the pomp and pageantry, there was the traditional parade of honour, the stirring music by military bands, and the colourful attire of members.
