Museums and libraries for leaders
THE EDITOR, Sir:
I like the idea that Prime Minister Andrew Holness is moving to secure the legacy of our past leaders. It is an excellent idea in fact. The move to build museums and libraries couldn't have been more appropriate because Jamaica really need more places of the arts.
In other countries, political leaders and those who have contributed much are placed high with, and given huge statues and graves that turn out to be tourist attractions. Other than National Heroes Park, Jamaica really does not have much of these.
So, it could be a further widening of the arts in the country to which so little attention is paid.
The only thing I would caution is that these libraries and museums should not only be built in Kingston. They need to be spread all over the country for maximum effect. For far too often, other parishes are left out on these projects.
However, that aside, let us get to work on these museums and libraries, improving the arts in the city.
