Additional investigators assigned to Portland Police

In an effort to strengthen the investigative process in the Portland Division, detectives from the Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) headquarters, the Major Investigation Division in Kingston along with additional Specialist Forensic Crime Scenes Investigators have been assigned to support ongoing investigations in the parish.

Head of the CIB Assistant Commissioner of Police McArthur Sutherland says the highest level of professionalism regarding the investigation of the following major investigations currently carried out in Port Antonio, which have raised particular concerns.

They are:

1. The murder of Tevin McKenzie and the shooting of two other persons on Thursday, March 28 about 10:30 p.m., at West Street in Port Antonio.

2. The shooting of two men on Sunday, March 31 about 1:15 a.m., on West Street in Port Antonio.

The police say the investigations are progressing apace and the assigned investigators are prepared to pursue all investigative leads that have emerged so far.

They are asking persons who can assist the investigations to come forward.

We are relying on the continued cooperation of the public in making breakthroughs in both matters.

As such, persons with useful information regarding the incidents are being encouraged to contact the CIB HQ at 876-922-2380 or 876-922-4487, police 119 emergency number, Crime Stop at 311 or the nearest police station to assist in the probe.
