Persons who feel that they have been fleeced or scammed are encouraged to report the matter to the nearest police station.

The Ministry of Labour is again having to advise persons to beware of scammers, after learning that individuals purporting to be representatives of the ministry have been issuing forms, otherwise referred to as farm work cards.

It says members of the public, especially young persons, should note that it does not issue farm work cards or forms.

Additionally, the ministry says it does not charge a fee or ask persons to pay for placement in jobs overseas.

The ministry also stresses that no private individual or organisation is authorised to recruit persons for participation in the farm work programme.

Under the Employment Agency's Act, the Ministry of Labour and Social Security is the only entity authorised to place persons in agricultural employment overseas.

Persons who feel that they have been fleeced or scammed are encouraged to report the matter to the nearest police station.
