Man charged for 2023 Maxfield Avenue gun attack

The police on Thursday charged a man for a 2023 gun attack on another who was awaiting public transportation along Maxfield Avenue in St Andrew.

Forty-nine-year-old labourer Maurice Daley, otherwise called 'Chaka Berry', has been charged with wounding with intent, possession of prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of prohibited ammunition, and using a prohibited weapon to commit a felony.

His court date is being finalised.

The Half-Way Tree police report that about 9:45 p.m. on May 10, 2023, a man was standing along the road awaiting public transportation when a white Toyota Probox motor car with several men aboard drove up.

One of the men opened gunfire in the direction of the man, hitting him several times, before speeding off in the vehicle.

The wounded man was admitted in hospital in serious condition.

Daley was apprehended by a team of police during an operation on Wednesday, February 07.

He was officially charged after an interview in the presence of his lawyer on Thursday, February 08.
