WHAT TAXES & FEES CAN BE PAID USING Direct Funds Transfer (DFT?)

The following can be paid using DFT:

· Payroll Taxes (PAYE; Ed Tax; NIS; NHT & HEART)

· Income Tax (Corporate, Individual,

Withholding, Contractors Levy)

· Indirect Tax (GCT, SCT, GART, TCT)

· Stamp Duty and Transfer Tax

· Asset Tax

· Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Tax, Fees and Levies

· Environmental Protection Levy

· Penalties related to Automatic Exchange Of Information (AEOI)

· Trade and Business Licenses

· Fees and Levies (Excise Fees, Factory

Registration Fee, Employment Agency Fee,

Travel Agency Fee and Petroleum Fee)

WHERE SHOULD TAX RETURNS BE FILED?

Tax Returns MUST be filed online by visiting: www.jamaicatax.gov.jm

The Direct Funds Transfer is in relation to PAYMENT of taxes and fees only.

WHY DIRECT FUNDS TRANSFER (DFT)?

To encourage compliance and create a more convenient way for taxpayers to pay their taxes, Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) accepts payments made via Direct Funds Transfer (DFT) -electronic transfer of funds between banks.

WHO CAN USE THIS SERVICE?

All taxpayers transferring funds to TAJ's bank account MUST enter the Direct Funds Transfer Number (DFTN) in the “particulars/memo field” in order to have the payment receipted.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF USING DIRECT FUNDS TRANSFER?

The benefits of DFT payment option include:

· Increased efficiency and accuracy of

payment receipting

WHO NEEDS TO REGISTER FOR DFT?

Registration for use of DFT is not required however, you MUST have an eService account to generate a DFTN.

HOW DO I USE THIS FACILITY?

It's quite simple! Just a few easy steps!

1. Generate a Payment Advice from your TAJ

eServices account and retrieve your DFTN.

2. Provide your financial institution with either of TAJ's banking details as listed below:

3. When doing the transfer of funds from your bank account to TAJ's bank account, retrieve the DFTN previously generated and include this information in the particulars/ memo field on your banks online platform.

NB: In order to avoid interest and penalties, the amount transferred must be completed on the same day in which the Payment Advice/DFTN is generated.

4. Access TAJ eServices and use the “Generate Payment Receipt” option to generate your receipt.

NB. Receipts will be available online (the next working day following date of deposit).

A Tax Administration Jamaica officer can provide you with assistance in completing the payment advice form, if needed. You may contact our Customer Care Centre at 888-Tax-Help (888-829-4357) for any assistance required.

WHICH FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS FACILITATE DIRECT FUNDS TRANSFER (DFT)?

ALL commercial banks facilitate Direct Funds Transfer; if you are unsure, speak with your bank to confirm their participation.

All transfers must be made to the bank account with a DFTN.

Customers will be able to print their official receipts, instead of having to retrieve it at a

later date from a Tax Office.

Customers can access and print their official receipts from the TAJ website at

www.jamaicatax.gov.jm.

In order to print the receipt you MUST enter the payment source (Direct Funds Transfer),reference number (DFTN) and payment amount ( amount transferred).
