He will return to court on Tuesday, March 19.

Former police constable Kevin Smalling was on Monday remanded in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court in connection with the shooting death of a relative.

Smalling, who resigned from the Jamaica Constabulary Force in 2020 and migrated to the United States, was arrested and charged on Friday, March 8.

He was placed before the parish court yesterday.

Following an investigation by the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM), the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions ruled that the ex-constable be charged for the offences of murder and illegal possession of firearm.

He was charged in relation to the off-duty shooting of a family member, Lentoney Smalling, on December 2, 2018, at Lane Gate, 11 Miles, Bull Bay, St Andrew.

The man succumbed to his injuries on December 13, 2018.
