The Jamaica Labour Party's (JLP) Dawnette Foster was today sworn in as the councillor for the Cornwall Mountain division in Westmoreland.

The exercise was overseen by principal returning officer Errol Stewart at today's first meeting of the Westmoreland Municipal Corporation.

This brings to 14 the full quota of councillors to take their seats arising from the February 26 local government election.

Foster, who received 1,559 votes, was declared the winner of the division following a magisterial recount last week by a margin of 17 votes.

She defeated the People's National Party's Abigail Malcolm.

Foster is one of three JLP candidates who won their divisions in the elections.

The PNP won 11 of the 14 divisions in the Westmoreland Municipal Corporation.
