Update | Vaz expresses relief stabbed JUTC driver not seriously injured
Transport Minister Daryl Vaz has expressed relief that the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) driver who was on Thursday morning stabbed by a passenger is not seriously hurt.
"I'm relieved to hear that the JUTC driver is OK and not considered serious. The matter is being investigated and I will continue to monitor," Vaz posted to social media site X.
The male passenger reportedly requested a stop at an area that is not a designated bus stop.
The driver refused, resulting in the passenger stabbing him.
Drivers on the Portmore to downtown Kingston route have withdrawn their service in protest of the incident.
