‘Dup Dap’ charged for shooting death of relative during argument in Rock Hall, St Andrew

Detectives assigned to the St Andrew North Criminal Investigation Branch on Monday charged a 27-year-old man for the shooting death of a relative during an argument in Burkewood district in Rock Hall.

Alton Levy, otherwise called ‘Dup Dap’, a farmer Burkewood district, is charged with murder, using a firearm to commit a scheduled offence, possession of a prohibited weapon, and unauthorized possession of ammunition.

The charges are in relation to the death of 33-year-old Fabian Carr, otherwise called ‘Pop’, of Burkewood district on Sunday, March 16.

Reports from the Constant Spring police are that about 7:30 p.m., Levy and Carr had a disagreement, which escalated into a physical fight.

Levy reportedly brandished a firearm and opened fire at Carr, hitting him in the head and upper body.

On Monday, March 17, about 8:00 a.m., the police received information about a body seen in a house in the Burkewood community.

The lawmen visited the location and the body of Carr was seen lying on its back in blood with multiple gunshot wounds.

An investigation commenced.

On Thursday, April 3 about 10:00 a.m., Levy turned himself in, and according to the police, confessed to the crime.

The police say he later brought cops to where he hid the murder weapon and gave a statement thereafter.

He was formally charged on Monday, April 7.

His court date is being finalised.
