NSWMA employees to be enrolled in pension plan by year end
Audley Gordon, Executive Director of the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA), has announced that all employees of the entity will be enrolled in a pension plan before the end of the 2025 calendar year.
The announcement was made Tuesday morning at the opening of the new administrative offices of Western Parks and Markets Limited in Ironshore, St James.
“It is one thing to have new offices, and it's another to have good wages, but what about when you get old and can't work anymore?” Gordon asked.
“We met with a core team from across the four regions in Ocho Rios recently, and we settled on certain things. I can tell you that by year end, this calendar year, every staff member at the NSWMA will have a full pension benefit plan,” said Gordon.
The pension plan, designed in partnership with Sagicor Insurance, aims to ensure that NSWMA employees have financial security when they retire.
The NSWMA has a total of 4,080 posts on its establishment.
