Traffic changes for Cross Roads this Saturday for PNP rally
The police have announced traffic changes for Cross Roads Square in St Andrew for this Saturday to facilitate a mass rally by the Opposition People’s National Party (PNP).
Sections of several roads are to be closed.
The traffic changes will run from 6:00 a.m. on Saturday to midnight on Sunday.
The changes are are follows:
1. Motorists travelling along Half-Way Tree Road towards downtown Kingston via Cross Roads will not be able to pass Retirement Road.
Alternate route - Motorists will turn right on Retirement Road, left on Studio One Boulevard and access Slipe Road.
2. Motorists travelling from downtown Kingston towards Half-Way Tree Road using Orange Street will not be able to continue towards Cross Roads upon reaching Torrington Bridge.
Alternate route – Motorists will turn left at Torrington Bridge, right on Slipe Pen Road, left on Studio One Boulevard, right on Retirement Road and left on Half-Way Tree Road. Motorists may also turn right towards West Heroes Circle, left to North Heroes Circle and left on Marescaux Road.
3. Motorists travelling along Old Hope Road towards Cross Roads will not be able to pass the intersection of Old Hope and Eureka Road.
Alternate route – Motorists heading towards downtown Kingston will turn left on to Tom Redcam Road, then left on Camp Road through to South Camp Road, and right on East Queen Street towards East Parade.
Where motorists travel towards the intersection of Old Hope Road/Eureka Road, they will have to turn right on to Eureka Road, left on Half-Way Tree Road, right on Retirement Road, left on Studio One Boulevard through to Slipe Pen Road, left on to Orange Street, left on to King Street and into North Parade.
4. Motorists travelling along Marescaux Road towards Cross Roads will not be able to access Cross Roads at Caledonia Crescent.
Alternate route – Motorists will keep right on Caledonia Crescent towards Camp Road/Tom Red Cam Road, turn left on Tom Redcam Road and across to Oxford Road towards Half-Way Tree Road.
Parking
Persons attending the public meeting will be able to park in the following areas:
a. Along Slipe Road, south of Courts.
No vehicles will be allowed to pass that point towards Cross Roads Square.
b. Along Studio One Boulevard in the left lane to the western side of the road only.
c. Along Caledonia Crescent in the left lane facing north. No vehicles will be allowed to park in the area leading through Caledonia Avenue towards Slipe Road.
d. Along off roads/areas leading from Half-Way Tree Road, north of Half-Way Tree /Retirement Road. Absolutely no parking will be allowed on Half-Way Tree Road.
e. Within plazas and off roads along Old Hope Road, east of Old Hope Road/Eureka Avenue. Absolutely no parking will be allowed on Old Hope Road.
Motorists are being asked to obey the directives of the officers who will be on location.
