A 17-year-old boy from Hanover has been charged by the police for allegedly stealing a woman’s debit card and withdrawing more than $800,000.

The teen, who reportedly used some of the money to purchase a motorbike, has been charged with simple larceny.

The alleged theft is said to have occurred between February and March 2026.

Reports from the Lucea police are that the teenager, who lives with the woman, searched her belongings and removed her debit card without her knowledge or consent.

It was further reported that the woman became suspicious after the unemployed teen purchased a motorcycle valued at $190,000.

Subsequent checks revealed that funds had been withdrawn from her account, prompting a report to the police.

The teen was later charged following a question-and-answer session conducted in the presence of a relative and two justices of the peace.

He is scheduled to appear before the Hanover Family Court on Tuesday, March 31.
