World U-20 | Lyston wins, Reid places second to advance to 200 metres final
Jamaica's Brianna Lyston easily qualified for the final of the women's 200 metres at the World Under-20 Championships at the Pascual Guerrero Olympic Stadium in Cali, Colombia, after winning her semi-final on Thursday.
Jamaica will have two representatives in the final as Alana Reid placed second in another of the semi-finals to advance as one of the automatic qualifiers.
Lyston, as she did in the heats earlier in the day, ran the curve hard and although maintaining top speed for longer, was able to ease in the final 50 metres to cruise to an easy win in heat two of the semi-finals.
Lyston did 22.83 seconds to finish ahead of Mia Brahe-Pedersen of the United States of America (USA), who did a personal best of 22.95 with Sophie Walton of Great Britain finishing third in 23.24, also a personal best. Walton also advanced to the final on time.
Reid, on the other hand, battled strongly with Jayla Jamison of the USA for most of the race, with the latter pulling away in the final 10 metres for the victory.
Jamison clocked 23.01 seconds, with Reid doing a personal best of 23.16.
