#BudaQuest | Jamaica lose mixed-relay appeal
Jamaica’s appeal to be included in the final of the 4x400-metre mixed relay final at the World Athletics Championships has been rejected.
Earlier, the Jamaican quartet of Demish Gaye, Malik James-King, Stacey-Ann Williams and Natoya Goule-Toppin finished fifth in their heat, clocking three minutes, 14.05 seconds.
However, the Jamaicans, who had finished with the ninth-best time, appealed the result on the grounds that Goule-Toppin, who ran the second leg, had been impeded.
In response, World Athletics ruled that while there was contact, it was not sufficient to cause a change in the result.
