Love at first scroll leads Hadian and Rasheda to ‘I do’
While watching a game on his phone, Hadian Williamson absentmindedly scrolled through social media. Then, he came across a photo so mesmerising that he had to stop and take a closer look. Without hesitation, he decided to shoot his shot and sent Rasheda Pickett a direct message on Instagram. Hadian then told his friend that she would be his wife – a promise he made good on six years later.
“When I saw the picture of her, it was love at first sight. I immediately knew she was my wife,” he told Island Wedding. Rasheda, enrolled in nursing school at the time, was surprised to see the message, but responded nonetheless.
Admittedly, she was a bit sceptical about his intentions at first. But as time passed, those doubts faded, and she grew comfortable in his great company. “One day, I invited him over to where I was staying in Kingston for school, and from there I knew. We conversed like we had known each other for a long time,” she said, adding, “We both have similar stories and personalities.”
After that initial social media exchange in 2018, the two went on to make their relationship official in 2021.
“My husband is very humble and easy-going. He is willing to assist in any way possible and he’s a good communicator. Whatever is on his mind, best believe he is going to say it. Reliable and caring, he has helped to boost my self-esteem. And he is always showing kindness, affection and comfort, especially when I need it,” she shared.
Rasheda realised that he was the one on their first date night together. “We didn’t go to any fancy restaurant. We went to KFC to eat, and we enjoyed ourselves.”
Considering that he remains captivated by her beauty, Hadian revealed that he also loves how compassionate, sexy, patient, and dependable his wife is, adding, “She has assisted me in my personal growth by helping me to be the man I am right now. I believe that God placed her in my life for a special reason.”
When it comes to chill spots, home with his wife is his all-time favourite place to be.
By 2023, Hadian knew it was time to ask for her hand in marriage, and he did just that with a private proposal for two.
“The proposal, for me, was something I didn’t expect. I am the type of person who wanted a fancy proposal, but this proposal was quite intimate; just the two of us,” Rasheda highlighted, noting that she was happy to say yes.
Speaking of positive responses, this fiancée also said yes to a beautiful wedding dress from Unions Bridal Boutique. When it came to wedding arrangements, she chose to plan the nuptials alongside her husband-to-be, with assistance from their minister.
On January 4, the happy couple exchanged vows and became husband and wife at Cyril’s Weddings & IDoSpot in Spanish Town, St Catherine.
Walking up the aisle as a bride and seeing her groom overcome with emotions is a moment she will cherish forever. She confessed that she also had the urge to cry, but she didn’t want to risk ruining her make-up.
The groom chimed in by saying, “The wedding was great; it was just perfect.” His favourite moment came when he and his beautiful bride said ‘I do’.
“We had our first dance as husband and wife to the song Broken Road. At that moment, I felt like crying because it felt so surreal. I was no longer someone’s girlfriend; I was actually a wife to the love of my life,” Mrs Pickett-Williamson reflected.
