Advocacy group Sarah's Children has partnered with Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association (JHTA) members Sandals, RIU and Round Hill to offer all-inclusive vacations to the policemen pictured on social media engaging in what is definitely one of the feel-good stories of the new year.

The three constables - Robert Franklin, Raniel Brown and Gilroy Edwards - who were also lauded by Prime Minister Andrew Holness on Tuesday, displayed actions that reflected their oath to serve, protect and reassure by assisting a mother with her three children while she rushed a fourth child to the hospital on New Year's Eve.

Franklin, Brown and Edwards are assigned to the zone of special operation in Denham Town, Kingston.

"Their 'serve, protect and reassure' mission statement was brought to life, and humanity was demonstrated in their compassionate willingness to support this mother," stated Dr Clover Brown, spokesperson for Sarah's Children.

Brown added that the gesture shows the policemen's commitment to service to young, vulnerable, and impressionable children.

"While it is very easy for us to criticise our police officers when they err, it is not very often that we congratulate and publicly thank them for that difficult yeoman's job that they do every day. Policing in Jamaica is not only a career, but it is also a commitment to country," she noted.

Omar Robinson of the JHTA - who is also general manager of the Round Hill Hotel - Adam Stewart of Sandals, and Niurka Garcia-Linton of RIU did not hesitate in offering to recognise the three men.

ACT OF COMPASSION

"This kind gesture by these law enforcers is admirable as they have gone above and beyond their call of duty to assist this mother of four in a time of need. Despite working under adverse conditions, they have shown compassion and empathy. As such, the JHTA would like to show our appreciation to these officers for continuing to do yeoman's work," said Robinson.

Stewart, lauding the lawmen, stating there was truly nothing wrong with Jamaica that cannot be fixed by what is right with Jamaica.

"These extraordinary police officers are indicative of what makes our country an incredible nation, and [their actions] show our civil servants going above and beyond to protect and serve our country's citizens," he said.

"Selfless acts like these touch the hearts of all of us here at Sandals Resorts, and we wholeheartedly thank them for their efforts. Their actions speak volumes, and we look forward to hosting them at our resorts."

The three constables, who will also receive gift packages from J. Wray and Nephew, will be transported by sponsor Knutsford Express to the various resorts.
