Elaine Thompson Herah continued to stump those wondering when her challenges will begin to show themselves on the track after setting a meet record over 100m at the Rabat Diamond League on Sunday.

Thompson Herah, who last complained about a painful shoulder a few weeks ago, and an Achilles problem that has not gone away, shook off pain and challenges to stop the clock in 10.83 seconds.

The double-double-Olympic sprint champion finished ahead of Côte d'Ivoire’s Marie-Josée Ta Lou, who ended in 11.04, and compatriot Natasha Morrison, 11.22.

No challenge came from the Bahamian Anthonique Strachan, who couldn’t finish the race.

In the women’s 400m, Stephenie Ann McPherson (51.37) finished third behind the Dominican Republic’s Marileidy Paulino (50.10) and Barbados’ Sada Williams (50.74).

In the triple jump, Jamaica’s Shanieka Ricketts had to settle for second, with her leap of 14.43m not good enough to get the better of Dominica’s Thea Lafond, whose furthest hop, skip and jump, broke the sand 14.46m away from its origin.

Jaheel Hyde is still having issues in the 400m hurdles. Today in Rabat, he finished fifth in a pedantic 49.35 seconds. The race was won by the United States’ Khallifah Rosser in a meet record 48.25. Rosser was benefitting from the absence of Norway’s Karsten Warholm, who pulled up early in the race, clutching his hamstring.

World Championship silver medallist discus thrower Fedrick Dacres failed to challenge his perennial rival, Sweden’s Daniel Ståhl, finishing 10th with a sub-par throw of 61.34m.

Ståhl himself was surprised, finishing second with a throw of 67.16. He was well beaten by Slovenia’s Kristjan Čeh, who threw 69.68m.
