World U-20 | Jamaicans win 400mh heats to advance to semis
Jamaica’s Roshawn Clarke and Antonio Forbes won their respective heat, on Wednesday, to advance to the semi-finals of the men’s 400 metres hurdles at the World Under-20 Championships at the Pascual Guerrero Olympic Stadium in Cali, Colombia.
Clarke won heat two, running from lane seven. He finished in 50.71 seconds with Grant Williams of the United States of America ending in 51.12 to place second as Britain’s Onyekachukwu Okoh did a personal best of 51.13 to finish third and grab the final automatic qualifying spot.
The Jamaican ran easily, before making his victory move with approximately 200 metres left in the one-lap hurdles event to stroll to an easy victory.
In heat six, Forbes, who ran from the tight lane two, completed the distance in 52.45 seconds to win ahead of Csaba Molnar of Hungary, who did 52.49 and Mahamat Abakar Abdrahman of Qatar who clocked a personal best of 52.50.
Molnar led the race until the final hurdle where he stumbled as Forbes came through to take the event.
