Jamaica’s Bryan Levell will contest the final of the men’s 200 metres after he won heat three of the semi-finals of the World Under-20 Championships, which is being held at the Pascual Guerrero Olympic Stadium in Cali, Colombia on Wednesday.

Levell shot from the blocks to take the lead coming off the curve and although seemingly seeking to preserve his energy by slowing and being caught by other contestants, he did enough to win the event.

Running from lane eight, Levell clocked a personal best of 20.34 seconds to finish ahead of Calab Law of Australia, who did 20.42, which is also a personal best. Brandon Miller of the United States of America did 20.57 to qualify for the final on time.

Levell will go into the final with the third fastest time from the semi-finals, with Blessing Akawasi Afrifah of Israel, who won heat one, being the fastest with a national Under-20 record of 20.17 seconds as 100 metres winner, Letsile Tebago of Botswana was the second fastest with 20.23.
