Clarendon College head coach devastated after car stolen at Stadium
Head coach of Clarendon College, Davion Chantiloupe, has expressed deep sadness and disappointment after his motor vehicle was stolen from the car park at the National Stadium on Wednesday during the second day of the annual ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls’ Athletics Championships.
Chantiloupe said that the incident has been especially difficult for him given the recent arrival of his newborn baby.
“I parked my car in the National Stadium car park on Wednesday around 2:40 p.m. When I came back in the night about 20 minutes after nine, I didn’t see my car,” he said. The stolen vehicle is a pearl white Toyota Wish bearing licence plate number 9930LL.
“I am telling you the truth, this is really taking a toll on me, and I am trying not to make it spill over on the kids, especially at a time like this because over the weekend I welcomed a new member to my family, a newborn baby who is just four days old now,” Chantiloupe said. “For something like this to happen, it is really stressing.”
The theft came on what should have been a celebratory day for Clarendon College, as the team secured three medals, two gold and one bronze at the championships.
“It was a bittersweet day,” Chantiloupe added. “For this to happen on the day when we got three medals, and just when I thought things were extremely good, it has really put a damper on me.”
Already balancing the pressures of coaching and personal responsibilities, Chantiloupe noted that the situation has been overwhelming for him.
“This is really tough for me because I have never had to deal with anything like this before, especially in this stressful time. I had a tough weekend managing my personal life and also managing the team, so it was really hard coming here,” he said.
Chantiloupe is now appealing to the public for assistance in recovering his vehicle.
“I am appealing to anyone out there who can help me to locate it, please do, because I have a lot of personal items inside the vehicle as well,” he said, noting that the matter has been reported to the police.
When contacted the Stadium Police confirmed that a report was made.
