If you're looking for tasty fish and bammy on the south coast, look no further than Scott's Cove. Collette Monteith has been selling fish for about seven years. She sells a plate of fish (usually five or six) for $2,200.

"I don't cook it with pepper, I just add it afterwards," she explains. Like many of the sellers, she can be out there as early as 6 a.m. to catch the early commuters. They also do small deliveries to towns such as Santa Cruz.

"We're always here for our customers. Just tell us what you want and we'll prepare it." The 'we' refers to Marsha Miller, who specialises in bammy. She learned the art from her mother and has been selling at Scott's Cove for about 12 years. She explains that unlike some people, most of the bammy makers use only a little oil.

"Some people full it a oil an' it nuh come out good," she notes. She even uses a little sea water ("jus' dip it likkle, not much)," she said. That aside, the recipe is the same. A pack of bammy (three if fried, five if baked) will go for about $450.

They are a tag team of sorts, providing the perfect meal and the most popular dish at Scott's Cove. The competition can be fierce at Scott's Cove but it's not cut-throat.

"Everybody work together out here. If more than one of us go to a car, wi jus' tell the people look and decide. An' wi gi a likkle 'taste and buy'," said Monteith.
