Four firearms and three rounds of ammunition were today seized at a house in Thompson Pen, Spanish Town, St Catherine and a male occupant was arrested as a police-military team visited the area following last night’s gun attack that left three persons injured.

The man is to be questioned by the police.

They say the team went to the area today around 12:30 p.m. in search of gunmen and wanted persons.

The man’s house was searched and the guns and ammunition were found in his possession.

His identity is being withheld pending further investigation.

Regarding the shooting on Saturday night, it is reported that about 10:30 two women and a man were at a shop when they were pounced on by gunmen travelling on foot who opened fire hitting them, according to the police.

The police were alerted and they were taken to the nearby Spanish Town Hospital for treatment.

According to the police, the man is said to be in critical condition.

Following last night’s gun attack, the police were placed on high alert after an initial probe revealed that the shooting was carried out by heavily armed assailants.
