The Reggae Boyz kept their FIFA World Cup dream alive with a 1-0 semi-final victory over New Caledonia in a playoff tournament in Mexico on Thursday night.

They will now face the Demoratic Republic of Congo on March 31 for a place at the FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted by Canada, the United States and Mexico.

Bailey-Tye Cadamarteri scored the game's only goal in the 20th minute.

Jamaica, the 70th ranked team in the world, is chasing a return to the finals for the first time since 1998. New Caledonia is ranked 153rd while the DR Congo is 46th.

The Reggae Boyz are being coached by Rudolph Speid, who was appointed on an interim basis following the resignation of Steve McClaren after the team failed to secure automatic qualification after a 0-0 draw with Curaçao on November 18, 2025.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will run from June 11 - July 19.

More details to come.
