Carifta Trials | Dionjah Shaw wins U-17 discus, 400 hurdles finalists decided
Edwin Allen’s Dionjah Shaw captured the girls’ Under-17 discus throw final with a mark of 41.99 metre at the JAAA National Trials at the National Stadium today.
Shaw won the event comfortably ahead of Rehanna Biggs from St Jago (40.21) and her teammate Shamoyea Morrison (40.01m).
Earlier today, St Jago’s Safhia Hind clocked 59.25 seconds to lead all qualifiers into tomorrow’s under-20 400-metre final.
Shackelia Green from St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) (1:00.44), Oneika McAnnuff from Hydel (1:00.42), Dejona Simpson of Excelsior (1:01.86), and Tonyan Beckford from Edwin Allen (1:01.30) are the other qualifiers to watch in tomorrow’s final.
KC’s Antonio Forbes is the fastest qualifier to the boys’ under-20 400m-hurdles final after winning his heat in 52.82 seconds.
Camperdown’s Roshawn Clarke, who is the favourite to win the event, will enter the final with the second-fastest time after winning heat one in 52.96.
Rayon Campbell from KC (54.83), Javel Fullerton of Calabar (53.07), Romario Stewart of Petersfield (53.43), and Kemario Neil of STETHS (55.13) are other main qualifiers for that final.
