Narcotics Police probing major drug bust in St Elizabeth

The Narcotics Police have commenced an investigation into the seizure of approximately 1,384 pounds of compressed ganja valued at $5.5 million in St Elizabeth on Thursday.

The police say three men were arrested in connection with the drugs and remain in custody.

Their names have not been released.

It’s reported that members of the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) Coast Guard were patrolling the coastline in Black River shortly after 8p.m. when they spotted a boat with three men aboard.

According to the police, the men began acting in a manner that aroused the suspicion of the soldiers and the vessel was intercepted and searched.

The police say during the search 29   bags containing compressed ganja were found. The men, the drugs and the vessel were handed over to the Police.
